WHO IS THIS FOR?
Exercise professionals, sports coaches and parents with the intention to work with mothers pre or post delivery using exercise as the primary modality to enhance fitness, health and improve the quality of lives.

PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM EXERCISE TRAINER

Take the lead in your community and aid your prenatal and postpartum clients as a fitness professional.

Help pregnant mothers improve posture and decrease common discomforts such as backaches and fatigue. Reduce the risk of gestational diabetes, relieve stress, and assist in building the stamina needed for labour and delivery.

Facilitate the physical and mental well-being of postpartum mothers by improving the overall quality of life, promoting weight loss, and enhancing cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength.

The Prenatal and Postpartum Exercise Trainer continuing education workshop is approved by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT), and National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF)

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Following the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Establish the benefits of exercise for pregnant women
  • Identify the contraindications to exercise
  • Identify warning signs to stop exercising
  • Identify changes to the body during pregnancy
  • Utilize useful stretches and SMR techniques
  • Establish when to start postpartum exercise
  • Understand and check for diastasis recti
  • Highlight the implications of diastasis recti on exercises
  • Plan for basic programming
  • Identify common issues affecting the body  in ADL
  • Provide solutions to physical discomfort in ADL
